Purpose of Fund
Initiated by Scottish Screen
in 2000 the Alt-w Fund
is for practitioners to make and develop innovative work and creative applications
for the web which challenge notions of what networked screen-based digital
creativity can be. The fund strongly encourages applicants to explore experimental
and interactive creations which engage audiences and makes use of the
web as both platform and medium. Through the Alt-w Fund, Scottish
Screen and New Media Scotland hope to encourage and support the development of
web-based/enabled projects that:

high quality, experimental and interactive/participative in nature
expand
and challenge the notion of what projects/applications for the web can
be through the use of new and innovative formats for its creation, presentation
and dissemination
show
the diversity and range of cultural and creative practices and approaches
that practitioners are taking towards the web now
